The hand-carved wooden Spirit birds are a modern reinterpretation of an old tradition. In myths across the world, the human soul is often seen as a bird. According to Karelian folklore in Finland, one’s spirit bird flies free when one sleeps – thus, it’s wise to keep a wooden spirit bird next to you to keep your soul from wandering too far.
